This course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs first aid and/or CPR training and a course completion card for job, regulatory, or other requirements. It is also suitable for individuals who want to be prepared to act in an emergency.
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies.
Administer appropriate first aid for medical and injury emergencies.
Perform CPR and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on adults, children, and infants (depending on the specific course).
Understand the importance of calling emergency services and knowing when to activate the emergency response system.
Understand the role of a first responder and the legal considerations for bystanders.
Course Content: The course typically covers the following topics:
First Aid Basics: Recognizing and responding to common injuries and illnesses, including bleeding control, wound care, and managing shock.
Medical Emergencies: Responding to emergencies like heart attack, stroke, and seizures.
Injury Emergencies: Handling situations like broken bones, sprains, and burns.
Environmental Emergencies: Understanding how to respond to heat-related and cold-related emergencies.
CPR and AED Use: Performing CPR on adults, children, and infants, and using an AED.
Opioid-associated emergencies: Learning how to recognize and respond to overdoses.
Course Format: The course is often offered in a blended learning format, which includes an online portion and an in-person skills session with an AHA instructor. Some courses may also be offered in a traditional classroom setting or through remote skills verification.
Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course completion card. The card is usually valid for two years.

This course is done in person at EOS location in Cheyenne, Whyoming.

The course may include optional modules on topics like child and infant CPR.
